Community of Trees was founded on Patmos in September 2012 as a non-profit civil company for environmental and cultural projects.
Environmental work depends on collective participation. Communication is the first step.
Our aims
- Conceive, analyse, implement, and monitor environmental projects with local authorities.
- Promote public awareness of local and global environmental issues through informational, educational, and cultural events.
- Produce and promote multimedia work with cultural and environmental content.
- Seek national and European funding for these aims and support the local economy.
The record from 2012 to 2019
The first projects connected environmental research, cultural production, and public discussion on Patmos.
Community of Trees became a non-profit organisation in September.
Work began on the study for a forest and ecological park on Koumas hill.
A team from the Institute of Mediterranean and Forest Ecosystems studied the hill and completed a preliminary report.
Community of Trees produced a piano recital on Patmos and submitted the Koumas park proposal to the municipality.
Community of Trees presented its work and proposals at the Patmion Cultural Centre.
