Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of trees.life and the online services provided by Community of Trees.
1. About Community of Trees
The website is operated by Community of Trees / Κοινωνία των Δέντρων, a civil non-profit company based on Patmos, Greece.
You can contact us at info@trees.life or at Chora Patmou, 85500 Patmos, Greece.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using the website, you agree to use the service in accordance with these terms and applicable law. If you do not agree, you may choose not to use the website.
Our Privacy Notice explains how we process personal data.
3. Purpose of the website
The website presents the environmental and cultural work of Community of Trees. It includes information about the Koumas Forest, other projects, the Journal, activities, ways to support the organisation, and contact information.
We may add, change, or remove content and features as our activities or the technical needs of the website change.
4. Permitted use
You may use the website for lawful personal, informational, and community purposes.
You must not:
- break applicable law or infringe another person's rights,
- try to obtain unauthorised access to systems or data,
- introduce malicious code or interfere with the availability or security of the service,
- falsely represent yourself as Community of Trees or one of its representatives,
- use our name, logo, or content in a way that falsely suggests collaboration, approval, or sponsorship.
5. Donations and “Adopt the Trees”
The current website provides instructions for voluntary financial support by bank transfer. The transaction takes place through your bank and not inside the website.
“Adopt the Trees” describes a way to support our environmental work. Unless a specific campaign expressly states otherwise, a donation or “adoption” does not transfer ownership of a tree, land, or other property. It also does not create an exclusive right to manage a particular tree or area.
Ecosystem restoration is affected by weather, fire, drought, disease, soil conditions, animals, and other factors. We cannot guarantee the survival, exact location, or permanent condition of a specific tree.
If you believe that a bank transfer was made by mistake or without authorisation, contact us as soon as possible. Any correction or refund will be considered according to the circumstances, applicable law, and the rules of the relevant financial institutions.
We do not provide tax advice and do not guarantee any particular tax treatment for a donation.
6. Events, activities, and participation
Community of Trees may organise or support environmental, educational, and cultural activities. Dates, locations, programmes, or availability can change because of weather, safety, venue availability, or other practical conditions.
Outdoor activities may include uneven ground, exposure to weather, tools, or physical activity. Participants must follow reasonable safety instructions and decide whether an activity is suitable for their health and abilities.
Children may participate only under the rules of the relevant activity and any required parental, guardian, school, or other appropriate permission and supervision.
7. Messages and material you send us
If you send us text, photographs, stories, or other material, you must have the right to share it. You must not send personal information or protected material belonging to another person without appropriate permission.
If you expressly authorise us to publish material, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it for the agreed purpose and related non-profit communication about our work.
8. Photography and documentation of activities
Some activities may be photographed, filmed, or recorded for documentation, communications, and archive purposes. Where consent or another specific permission is required, Community of Trees seeks it in a form appropriate to the intended use.
See our Privacy Notice for more information.
9. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, original text, design, visual identity, photographs, videos, and other website material are owned by Community of Trees or used under licence.
You may view and make reasonable personal, non-commercial use of the content. You must not reproduce, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit protected material where permission is required and you do not have it.
Some material belongs to photographers, creators, researchers, partners, or other third parties. Their applicable rights and licence terms remain in force.
10. Third-party services
The website may link to or embed third-party services such as Vimeo, SoundCloud, Instagram, Google Maps, Google Drive, and Bandcamp. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy practices.
A link or embed does not mean that we control the availability, security, content, or practices of the third-party provider.
11. Accuracy of information
We aim to keep information accurate and understandable. Environmental projects, maps, programmes, collaborations, and other information can change over time.
Website material is mainly provided for information and documentation. It is not professional scientific, technical, legal, tax, or other specialist advice unless expressly stated otherwise.
12. Availability and security
We take reasonable steps to operate the website, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The service may be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, security incidents, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
13. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Community of Trees is not responsible for loss caused solely by third-party services we do not control, circumstances outside our reasonable control, or use of information for a purpose for which it was not intended.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or a right where applicable law does not allow that exclusion or limitation.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the website, our activities, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the current version.
15. Governing law

Disputes are subject to the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law.
